Merrill Beyeler, Board Member
Merrill, a graduate of Boise State, along with Sharal have enjoyed the opportunity to work, play, and raise their children on their family ranch located at the headwaters of the Lemhi river. A highlight of each year is the return of the Salmon to spawn. This inland migration to Central Idaho is unique. It is the longest and the highest inland migration of fish to occur anywhere in the world. Merrill believes we, as Idahoan’s, have been entrusted with a gift, Idaho’s Great Outdoors. As such, we have an obligation to make sure it remains for generations to come.
Idaho’s Great Outdoors is our heritage. It defines us as a people. It is the heart and soul of who we are. As an economic driver, and a force for our wellbeing it cannot be over- estimated. Idaho’s Great Outdoors is our treasure.
As a ranching family, it is their passion to be good stewards of the land. In 2013 Beyeler Ranches received the Bureau of Land Management’s National Rangeland Stewardship Award, and the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission’s Annual Award. In 2015 they received the Governor’s award for Excellence in Agriculture for Environmental Stewardship.
Merrill serves as Vice Chair for the Idaho Rangeland Resource Commission, is a board member for the Idaho Rangeland Conservation Partnership, University of Idaho Rinker Rock Creek Ranch, and the Lemhi//Custer county Natural Resource Conservation Service. Merrill spent 21 years teaching and coaching in rural Idaho.
